Apprenticeship Expansion Grant Opportunity

The purpose and required outcomes for each category of grant funding is intended to support the following components of Apprenticeship Expansion and Opportunity:

  • Category 1: Expansion Industry Apprenticeship. Successful grantees will maximize the number of individuals enrolling in and completing training Registered Apprentice (RA) programs in Expansion Industries, which include, but are not limited to behavioral health, clean energy, education, finance, health and life sciences, healthcare, hospitality, advanced manufacturing, technology, transportation and other sectors that do not have a significant registered apprenticeship program footprint.
  • Category 2: Construction & Building Trades Inclusion Apprenticeship. Successful grantees will develop or incorporate apprentice hiring outreach, recruitment and retention strategies designed to enhance diversity, equity, inclusion, and access in the Construction and Building Trades industry.
  • Category 3: Sector-Based Apprenticeship Expansion Intermediaries. Successful grantees will
target sectors and subsectors that demonstrate a propensity to benefit from expanded
apprenticeship services and address unmet employer demand and/or develop new career
    pathways for talent.
  • Category 4: Pre-Apprenticeship Training and Services. Successful grantees will maximize the number of individuals participating in registered pre-apprenticeship programs, including individuals with a disability, and populations demonstrably underrepresented in the industry, with the goal of enrolling into a Registered Apprenticeship Program.
  • Category 5: Technical Assistance Grants. Successful grantees will develop a plan to utilize grant as start-up funding to provide technical assistance for applicants seeking to develop new registered apprenticeship or pre-apprenticeship programs, particularly in underrepresented populations or industries.
